Nam June Paik's TV Cello

When I first saw this image a while ago I needed to know more about the artist who created this unique and incredible TV Cello. It turns out that it was involved in a sort of performance art piece that was created by the artist Nam June Paik and classical cellist Charlotte Moorman.

From Wikipedia: "In 1964, Paik moved to New York, and began working with classical cellist Charlotte Moorman, to combine his video, music, and performance. In the work TV Cello, the pair stacked televisions on top one another, so that they formed the shape of an actual cello. When Moorman drew her bow across the "cello," images of both her playing, and images of other cellists playing appeared on the screens."

This green eggs and ham bento on flickr made by kitsa_sakurako would surely make Dr. Seuss proud (and I love it too).

Luxury Tax Graffiti

This life-sized monopoly board square graffiti seems to be a commentary on the state of a certain neighborhood that's going through a lot of changes with buildings being torn down to build large single family homes.
You can read the rest of the story from the person who took the photo at

The Teapottery: Eccentric Teapots

The teapottery has the coolest teapots I've ever seen. They have everything from kitschy retro teapots like the diner below to bizarre novelty teapots in the shape of toasters, computers, pocketwatches, jars of marmite (!!!) and so much more.
I had a difficult time choosing which teapots to add to this post because there have so many great ones to choose from.

Weird Fortune Cookie Collection: Unusual fortunes from actual fortune cookies

Some of these fortunes are hilarious and some are kind of weird...some are a little creepy. I'm pretty sure that if I received any one of these fortunes I'd have to carry it in my wallet forever.

I was going to make some fortune cookies at some point but since that hasn't happened yet, I'm just going to supply you with a fortune cookie recipe so you can make your own! Don't forget to put some bizarre fortunes inside!

Feeling a Little Tired?

NASA might want to pay you $5000 per month to participate in their 90 day bed rest study. That's 2,160 hours spent horizontal. Click here to read the article on Wired.

"The bed-rest experiment, to take place in the Human Test Subject Facility of Johnson Space Center, is designed to allow scientists to study some of the effects of microgravity on the human body."

And if you're interested in some of the particulars about what you can do while you're laid up click here.

Snuffykin made these really cool knitted high tops for Maker Faire. I'd really love to see these in all sorts of different colors and patterns!

Frank Kozik's Chumps

These toys created by Frank Kozik are some real bad eggs, ne'erdowells, just plain no good....
But that's not true, they're so good but they're so bad.
I'd still let them stay at my house (after I hide the silverware).

Picture Perfect Gumball Machine

This fully functional gumball machine hangs right on your wall (its dimensions are approximately 15 x 12 x 1.5 inches) and just think of all the places you could put it. I think it would look pretty interesting with one or two colors of gumballs in it.

Three Pigs Bento

luckysundae on flickr made this incredible three little pigs bento. I love their little noses and the details around them like the mushrooms and the flower pasta are a really nice touch.
